The Brief

The software company required a comprehensive Cloud Managed Service Provider (MSP) who specialised in AWS and Linux technology, coupled with 24/7 emergency response for their critical production workloads.


Scholar took over the management of the large AWS environment and conducted a ‘Health Check’ as part of the onboarding process. For all Managed Service clients our engineers do a review of the current cloud infrastructure set-up and put together a report detailing any advice, guidance and improvements which could be made. These can range from resilience and uptime, through to security and backup strategies.

The hosted services are mission critical, so it was imperative to review any single points of failure in the environment, which could risk downtime in the event of an issue. The actions from the report then formed part of the Managed Service task list for Scholar engineers to complete.

The company has a large in-house team of developers, who were continually developing the services and rolling out new deployments. It was important that they were able to work with a Managed Service Provider who could work collaboratively with the in-house development team, as well as take the responsibility of managing the mission critical server-side cloud infrastructure.

  • Due to the nature of the hosted services the Managed Service included 24/7 emergency response for their business critical infrastructure. This ensured that no matter the time of day, an engineer would be on hand in the event of an incident.
  • Monthly calls with the CTO to discuss ongoing tasks and priorities.
  • Annual Reviews with the Management Team to discuss service development opportunities and technical roadmap.
